Twitch is introduced in Latin America through a partnership with IMS Internet Media Services

Buenos Aires, February 18, 2016IMS Internet Media Services (IMS) and Twitch announced today a partnership to start commercial advertising operations for the platform in Latin America. IMS, a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television and a leader in digital marketing and communications, will represent Twitch’s innovative advertising inventory across the region, focusing primarily on the Mexican and Brazilian markets.

Twitch is the world’s leading social video and community platform for gamers. Each month, more than 100 million community members gather to watch and comment on games, with over 1.7 million user-generated content options. Twitch and its live and on-demand broadcast platform covers the entire videogame industry, including game and content developers, advertisers, media, events and e-sports.

The social video platform for gamers chose to work with IMS because of the company’s experience in marketing and market development strategies, as well as their knowledge of the Latin American culture; to expand business opportunities in the region, educate the industry and brands on how to connect with consumers in Spanish and Portuguese.

Latin America is an emerging market for video games and a key region for business development. Twitch has led a process of profound transformation in the gaming industry, fostering all the social and entertainment aspects that millennials expect from a platform“, Ignacio Vidaguren, COO and Partner of IMS explained. “We are excited to connect Twitch with brands and agencies to add value to digital and gaming ecosystems through innovative advertising engagement techniques“.

Broadcasting and watching video games is a global phenomenon and our platform brings together more than 100 million people watching billions of minutes of games a month – from ‘The International’ or the competition to break the world record for Mario to gaming conferences like the E3 and the EGS – we have a passionate community of broadcasters and viewers in Latin America who are social and have a very strong engagement, so we rely on IMS’ support to strengthen our presence and relationship with industry in the region“, said Simpson-Bint, Chief Revenue Officer of Twitch.

Latin America represents US$ 4 billion of the global gaming market, which totaled more than US$ 91 billion last year and reached about 1,9 million people worldwide.
