Focused on developing and expanding Twitch’s platform presence and business, IMS begins commercial and marketing operations for all Latin America countries.
Buenos Aires, February 18, 2016 – Today, IMS Internet Media Services (IMS) and Twitch announced they will partner to bring Twitch’s advertisement business to the Latin America region. IMS, a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television and leading digital marketing and communications company, will represent Twitch’s dynamic advertising inventory, with an early focus in Mexico and Brazil.
Twitch is the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers. Each month, more than 100 million community members gather to watch and talk about video games with more than 1.7 million broadcasters. Twitch’s live and video on-demand platform caters to the entire video game industry, including game developers, publishers, media outlets, events, casual content creators, and the entire e-sports scene.
The social video platform for gamers has enlisted IMS, trusting its expertise in developing digital and marketing businesses and knowledge about Latin American culture in order to expand Twitch’s business opportunities across the region and educate advertisers on how to connect with consumers in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Latin America.
“Latin America is a burgeoning gaming market. Twitch has been leading a deep transformation in the gaming industry offering all of the social and entertainment aspects that ‘millennials’ expect from a gaming platform,” said Ignacio Vidaguren, COO and Partner of IMS. “We look forward to connecting Twitch with brands and agencies, providing value to the gaming and digital ecosystem through innovative and engaging advertising techniques.”
“Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon with our platform bringing together more than a hundred million people who watch billions of minutes of games each month – from The International, to breaking the world record for Mario, to gaming conferences like E3 and EGS. Because we have an incredibly passionate community of broadcasters and viewers in Latin America who are both highly engaged and social, we are looking forward to having IMS help us strengthen our industry relationships in the region,” said Jonathan Simpson-Bint, Chief Revenue Officer, Twitch.
Latin America represents US $4 billion of the global games market worth over US $91 billion last year, and reaches about 1.9 billion people globally.
